Serengeti - A story in pictures

In February 2025, I finally fulfilled a dream I’d had for years, visiting Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. And let me just say this. The Serengeti does not ease you in gently. It hits you with scale. With drama. With wild energy. The land just keeps going. Endless golden plains, massive skies, dust rising behind safari vehicles.

Within hours of arriving, we spotted a massive male lion resting regally on a rocky outcrop, completely unbothered, like a king surveying his kingdom. And then came the moment I’ll never forget. A lioness walked right past our jeep. Barely a foot away, close enough to hear her breathing. Close enough to feel the quiet power in her stride. No rush. No fear. Just effortless dominance. We all froze. Cameras forgotten for a second. That’s when it hits you. You are very much in their world.

Then the pace changed. We watched a cheetah devour its prey. Fast, intense, no filters. It was raw and real and impossible to look away from. That’s the Serengeti. One minute it’s peaceful. The next, it’s full action.

We saw thousands of wildebeests marching across the plains like a living, breathing army. Zebras mixed in like bold graphic stripes in motion. Elephants everywhere - Teenagers goofing around and tiny calves trying to keep up with oversized ears flapping in the wind.

And then something from my bucket list - Floating over it all in a hot air balloon at sunrise. We lifted off in the cool morning air and watched the horizon explode into color. From up there, the Serengeti felt endless, like a living canvas unfolding in every direction. Herds of zebras and wildebeests. Giraffes in the distance. So unreal, and completely unforgettable!

The nights? No less dramatic. Sleeping in a tented camp in the middle of the wilderness. Zipped up in bed, listening to hyenas laughing somewhere out there and lions roaring in the distance. It’s thrilling in the best possible way. You fall asleep knowing this is the real deal.

The Serengeti is not polished. It’s wild, dramatic, unpredictable, and ridiculously cool.

Here are a few pics from my journey.
